What Is a Driver Score?
A driver score on this site is a proprietary reading of your motor vehicle record. Score v1 looks at classified violations, active suspensions, and clean time since the newest dated violation. The weights are published on the methodology page.
On Driver Leaderboard, that score is an educational summary of the motor vehicle record. It is not an insurer score and it does not tell you how an insurer will treat the record.
Why Your Driver Score Matters
- •Insurance files: Insurers use their own methods when they review a motor vehicle record. Driver Leaderboard's score is not that method and does not change a premium.
- •Employment: Some jobs, especially those involving driving, require a review of your driving record as part of the hiring process.
- •License Status: Serious violations or accumulating too many points can lead to license suspension or revocation.
- •Self-Awareness: Knowing your score helps you make informed decisions about improving your driving habits.
